GENERAL CARE AND SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS FOR SPARK PLUG

To ensure you get the most out of your candles, it is important to follow standard candle safety and care guidelines. Funky Candles is not responsible for misuse. Each candle includes safety instructions on the label underneath the jar.

Tips for burning candles with wooden wicks:

As with any handmade product, variations in color and texture of the wax and wicks will occur.
Wooden wicks burn differently than cotton, treat them like a hot fire.
Hold the candle at an angle when lighting; let the wick come into contact with the flame for at least 5 to 10 seconds.

Bic style lighters or BBQ lighters or rechargeable USB lighters are better than matches for lighting wood wicks.

When first lighting, allow the melted wax to reach the edge of the pot before extinguishing to prevent the wax from tunneling. This can take at least 2-3 hours.

Before each use, trim excess burnt wood on the wick to 1/8-1/4". This is very important! If not trimmed properly, the wick may not light or the flame may be too high.

If you notice that the flame height is getting too low after burning for an extended period of time, it may be necessary to break off any excess ash or burnt wood at the top of the wick. The flame will then return to its optimum height.

General Candle Safety:
Burn in plain sight on a flat, heat-resistant surface, away from drafts, children, pets and flammable objects.

Never leave a burning candle unattended.

Do not touch hot glass over a burning or cooling candle.

Keep melted wax free of debris and wooden wick trimmings.

Always burn candles in a well-ventilated room.

Never burn a candle for more than 3 to 4 hours.

Never extinguish candles with water.

If smoke occurs, extinguish the candle, trim the wick and relight.

Handle the pot with care.

If the pot is broken, chipped or cracked, stop using it.

Stop burning once 1/2" of wax remains. Burning beyond this point may present a fire hazard.

Due to the unpredictable nature of soy wax, it is normal to see changes in stickiness in the jar over time. This does not affect the wax's ability to burn or mean the candle is defective.

All products and packaging materials are intended to be reused or recycled. If you choose to reuse the glass, please do so with caution. Wait for the wax to cool and solidify (when you have about 1/2" left). Using a spoon or butter knife, gently lift and remove the wax (soy is easy to remove) from the bottom of the glass while standing over a trash can. The metal wick tabs can also be dislodged by lifting with a utensil. Wash any remaining wax residue with warm, soapy water and/or in the dishwasher.
